Problem solving in Prep H today. We had to make a container to hold 10 teddies without them falling out.

Proud Teacher Post- Prep J Writing!

Posted by mrsjackson | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on October 8, 2019

This week we had our first kinder transition session and it got me thinking. Our Preps came to school with lots of knowledge but being able to write more than their name was very difficult (and certainly not expected by anyone!) but LOOK!

Apart from some brainstorming and verbally planning what they wanted to  record about their holidays, their writing is completely independent! I’m so incredibly proud of these kids!

Let’s celebrate how far each of your children have come!!! Apologies if your child’s work is missing- some were out of the room during this activity. I’ll blog their work sometime this week.

Swimming!

Your amazing little fish have done such a great job this week! We have had lots of excited kids each day and they are looking forward to returning to the pool on Monday 16th.

A few reminders:

  • It is ALWAYS easier for the kids if their clothes are labelled. They are doing very well getting dressed themselves with minimal assistance but it gets very tricky if jumpers, t-shirts and skirts/pants are not named.
  • Please tie your child’s hair up in the morning so it’s easier for the cap to go on and the hair stays as dry as possible.
  • Tights are a bit tricky so where possible, please try and send pants. They are much easier to put back on.
  • Please ensure your child is arriving before 9am as the first bus leaves (and half of Prep J are leaving their classroom) at 9am sharp.
  • If you are coming to watch, please sign into the office at Haileybury.
  • If you are a parent helper and cannot make it to your scheduled session, please let the office know so we don’t have to wait for you to arrive.
  • Thank you to all helpers. We literally would go crazy without your help!!

Prep H made the most of the beautiful weather today and took our clipboards and minibeast writing ‘seeds’ out to the wetlands.

Student Led Interviews

0

Posted by mrsjackson | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on August 26, 2019

Don’t forget to book an interview with your teacher! This time your child comes along and will share some of their gorgeous work with you. It’s also a great chance for them to share things with us with your support. For example if they are finding something tricky or if they want to ask about something and haven’t been able to find the words.

We can’t wait to meet with you all!

Please note that we require all families to book a time and if you are unable to come on the dates specified please see your teacher to arrange an alternative meeting time. Especially since this is a student led interview, we’d hate for them to miss out on showing off their progress to you!

Thank you in anticipation,

The (fabulous) Prep Team

Numeracy Week

Did you know it was Numeracy Week last week too? The Preps took advantage of the celebration to solve a ‘fair share’ (division) mathematical riddle –

“Yesterday I put some counters into groups with the same number in each group. I can’t remember the groups, but I can remember that there was 12 counters. What might the groups have been?”
